Z4: Integrated Research Training Group School of Angioscience

Jörg Heineke

The promotion of young researchers is a central goal of the CRC1366. Therefore, the Integrated Research Training Group (IRTG) School of Angioscience is set up to provide training, mentoring and supervision for PhD and MD research students on three levels: (1) within the participating research groups, (2) within existing roof graduate schools (e.g. HBIGS in Heidelberg/Mannheim), and (3) within the angioscience curriculum of the CRC1366. In this curriculum, a combination of decentral practical and theoretical courses (“Student Retreats”), summer schools and a seminar series are implemented. Completion of the program is complementing training by the hosting roof graduate school and is providing young researchers with CRC1366-specific scientific skills and competence as well as laboratory management and communication skills that will ensure individual success and long-term advancement of angioscience research. Moreover, beyond the formal training aspect, the ITRG is a hub for the junior scientists in the CRC1366 to serve the important purpose of networking and interacting to thereby foster an atmosphere that is conducive for the strong collaborative spirit within the CRC1366.
